Zack's Burgers: Serving 'the Burger of Burgers' since 1975

Zack’s Hamburgers, at the intersection of South Boulevard and Scaleybark Road, is a throwback to when fast food was not as commercialized as it is today. No movie tie-ins or Super-sized meals; just good burgers, sandwiches and fries served in a classic “fast food” environment.

Not incredible fast by today’s standards, Zack’s Hamburgers uses the classic formula of ordering at a window and having a seat until your number is called. The whole process only takes a few minutes, and adds a bit of retro feel to the entire dining process.

The establishment has been serving burgers at the same location since 1975. Their signature item is the Zack’s Special — known as “the Burger of Burgers.” The special is two 100-percent ground beef patties, double American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mayonnaise and special sauce served on a toasted bun. The Zack’s Special comes with a side of French Fries, all for $4.55.

Zack’s also serves up a rib eye steak sandwich, a fried trout sandwich, a BBQ sandwich, hot dogs and more for $2 to $5. They also serve up Zack’s Plates — like a shrimp platter or fried chicken — with sides, cole slaw and a roll for $5 to $7.

Zack’s serves up several different desserts — like pecan pie or an apple turnover — as well as seven different milkshake flavors. Desserts are $1.25 to $2.95.

HelloCharlotte Tip: Diners can only enjoy Zack’s Hamburger’s during the week, as the restaurant is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
