The Comet Grill: Serving Dilworth since 1996

The Comet Grill, off of Park Road in Dilworth, can be considered a “dive bar” for several different reasons: it’s small, it’s dark, it serves a lot of beer and has a lot of live music. But, the Comet Grill serves up some incredible food — including a Sunday brunch — which takes it out of the “dive” category. It may be small and dark, but it’s clean and friendly as well.
The Comet Grill opened in 1996 and prides itself on serving “not your normal, run-of-the-mill bar fare,” according to proprietor Tommy Noblett. The Comet Grill mostly serves large burgers and sandwiches — for $7 to $8 — served with a choice of fries, chips, potato salad, pasta salad, cole slaw, onion rings, a side salad or veggie chili. It also serves traditional sandwiches like a French Dip, Chicken "Parm" Sandwich and a Philly Cheese Steak, but also has Southern classics like a Turkey Reuben and Grilled Pimento Cheese.
Each day, the Comet Grill has a different special, including $5 burgers on Saturdays and Huevos Rancheros on Sundays. The bar has a number of drink specials — like $2 PBR and Miller High Life every day — outlined on its website each day.
The Comet Grill has a number of opportunities to hear live music and never charges a cover to get in.
HelloCharlotte Tip: The Comet Grill has a lunch special during the week for $7, which includes a sandwich, side and drink , between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
