Bull & Barrister: Sports Bar mixed with English Pub
Jul 25, 2010
Bull & Barrister Draft House and Grille offers Northwest Charlotte residents a one-of-a-kind sport’s-themed pub with 33 televisions, pool tables, an outdoor patio and a cigar lounge. A fully stocked bar with more than 50 beers, a menu featuring hand-cut burgers, traditional “pub fare,” and daily food and drink specials, makes the restaurant is a popular choice for residents near Mountain Island Lake.
The “Draft House and Grille” gets its’ name from the slang terms for the owners' day jobs — an investment banker (a bull) and an attorney (in old English; a barrister). The owners just so happen to be married, and opened the establishment in 2008.
Regulars head to Bull & Barrister for a number of reasons. One is s specially ventilated Cigar Room, which features a 42-inch flat-screen HDTV. Another reason is the pool tournaments hosted on Monday and Wednesday evenings. On Friday and Saturday nights, Bull & Barrister has live music from local and regional bands. The main reason people head to the establishment is because of the food — which comes in large portions that will not leave anyone hungry.
The seven different burgers are a half-pound each. Sandwiches, like the Jumbo English Banger Sandwich or "The House" — which features hot turkey, ham, beef sausage, bacon, in between layers of cheddar & jack cheese — are monstrous. Burgers and Sandwiches, with a side, are $7 to $11.
The restaurant also serves up big entrees like Guinness Barbecue Ribs, a New York Strip Steak, and an Olde English Fish and Shrimp Platter. Entrees run $10 to $18.
HelloCharlotte Tip: The weekend is perfect for the family as kids receive a free lunch from 11 am to 3 pm with the purchase of an adult meal on Saturdays, and receive free ice cream with their Kid’s Meals on Sundays.
