The Deck on East: Bringing back beach memories
Apr 18, 2010
Many times a restaurant will claim, either on their website or on their menu, that their food or décor will “bring back memories.” The Deck on East — the full name of a seafood restaurant on East Boulevard in Charlotte’s Historic Dilworth Neighborhood — claims that “The Deck brings back memories of eating out on family beach trips at your favorite coastal restaurants.”
Many establishments make claims they cannot back up. The Deck on East can certainly back up this claim, and the experience truly feels like being at the beach.
The Deck — which is named because the main eating area is actually a deck placed on top of the roof of the restaurant — specializes in casual seafood dining with lots of shrimp, crab and lobster dishes. The inside of the restaurant, on the first floor, is actually a very cool laid-back décor, but most people will wait to be seated on the roof.
The Deck offers plenty of seafood staples like Peel & Eat Shrimp, Crab Cakes, and Fish & Chips, but they also offer some incredible twists like a Honey Wasabi Tuna Burrito and a lobster, crab and shrimp-mixture sandwich called Neptune’s Trident.
The prices are very reasonable, especially for inland seafood, with appetizers running $6 - $13, sandwiches and salads at $7 - $13, and entrees $13 - $22.
The Deck also offers a few non-seafood items like 7-ounce burgers and grilled chicken salads and sandwiches, and the restaurant also has a fully stocked bar.
