Wolfman Pizza: California-style pie on the east coast

Mar 29, 2010

Wolfman Pizza serves up California Style pizza with distinctive toppings that keep residents and visitors to Charlotte coming back for more.

With four locations — 8418 Park Road, 1039 Providence Road, 10620 Providence Road, and 106 S. Sharon Amity Rd. — a Wolfman specialty pizza or salad isn’t too far away from anyone in Charlotte.

All of the sauces and dressings are made in-house, and Wolfman caters to those dining in, carrying out or even those who want a traditional California Pizza but just choose to eat it later with their “Take & Bake” option.

When eating at Wolfman Pizza, make sure to try one of their specialty pies. Just like any pizza place, Wolfman makes a dynamite cheese or pepperoni pizza, but where they really excel is with their combinations that most pizza parlors would shy away from, like the “Thai Chicken,” a pizza with sweet Asian chili chicken and peanuts; the “Paparazzi,” featuring artichoke hearts and roma tomatoes; or the “Shrimp and Pesto,” made with shrimp and sun-dried tomatoes.

The restaurant serves up 21 Specialty Pizzas with toppings like roasted red potatoes, Mexican salsa and black beans. Most of the pies are $7.50 for an 8-inch, $15 for a 12-inch and $17 for a 14-inch pie.

For those who may not want to experiment with a whole pizza, head to Wolfman for lunch as their $6.49 special comes with a salad, a drink and a slice of pizza, or skip the salad and get two slices.

The restaurant also has some great salads and sandwiches, and also features a full bar with lots of beer choices.

California is not typically known for having the best pizzas, but they sure like to experiment with fresh ingredients and delicious toppings. When it comes to recreating that California spirit, Wolfman has done a fabulous job importing it to the Carolinas.

HelloCharlotte Tip: Although Wolfman always have cheese and pepperoni slices available for their lunch special, they also feature two specialty slices each day of the week so people can experiment without the fear of committing to a large pizza with the bizarre toppings.
