Tavern On the Tracks: The definitive sports bar
Apr 8, 2010
Tavern on Tracks, in Charlotte’s Historic Southend, is the definitive sports bar — especially if you are a fan of the University of Michigan, New York Yankees or Buffalo Bills.
With a square, four-sided bar at the center of the tavern — with dozens of flat screen televisions showing sports all the time — Tavern on the Tracks is the place to be for fans with big appetites ready to watch the big game.
Although the bar is the headquarters for Charlotte’s University of Michigan Alumni, the restaurant caters to all sports fans as they subscribe to the NFL Sunday Ticket, ESPN Gameplan and MLB Extra Innings packages from DirecTV. Their motto is simple: “We have something for everyone.”
The tavern opened in 2002, and has been serving up large orders of chicken wings, sandwiches and more ever since. Appetizers like Chili Cheese Fries or Toasted Ravioli are priced $5 - $8, sandwiches and grilled pizza are $6 - $8 and full-sized entrees and sides are $10 - $15.
The tavern also features specials on certain nights like Friday night “Fish Fries,” Saturday night prime rib and Sunday night shrimp and ribs.
Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday, and the restaurant serves up some great breakfast/lunch combinations that will please any big appetite.
HelloCharlotte Tip: With a view of Uptown Charlotte in the background, the outside porch is a perfect place to eat and drink while watching the game. Get there early if you want to sit on the outside porch, as televisions also line the walls outside so no one will miss any part of the game.
